First official wrestling tournament is held in Mankota, MN.

Minnesota-Mankato repeats to capture the 1st two national titles.

No Gray Area
Gray Simons of Lock Haven (PA) wins his 4x title in just the 5th edition. He also won 3 straight NCAA D1 titles.

Central Dominance
Central Oklahoma wins 6 of the 10 weights to be the first school to win more than half.

Hodge
Emmett Willson of Montana State Northern is the only NAIA wrestler to win the Dan Hodge Trophy.
